Description

Bodhisattva Mahāsthāmaprāpta (Great Power Attainer), revered as the Bodhisattva of Great Diligence, serves as the right attendant of Amitābha Buddha, the Supreme Lord of the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Together with Amitābha and Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva (the left attendant), they are venerated as the Three Sacred Ones of the West (Xifang San Sheng).
As elucidated in the Sutra on the Contemplation of Amitāyus (Guan Wuliangshou Jing), Bodhisattva Mahāsthāmaprāpta radiates a unique radiance of wisdom that illuminates all sentient beings, liberating them from calamities of bloodshed and warfare, and bestowing supreme spiritual strength.

Through his unparalleled wisdom-light, Mahāsthāmaprāpta universally illuminates sentient beings, emancipating them from the ravages of violence and imbuing them with invincible power and sovereign majesty. Thus, he is extolled as the Foremost in Luminous Wisdom, whose presence causes the heavens and earth to tremble, shielding all beings from harm inflicted by demonic forces.
