Description

Lord Ma, also revered as Marshal Ma the Divine Official, the Three-Eyed Divine Radiance, or Celestial Lord Ma, is known in Journey to the West as the Great Emperor Huaguang. Within Taoist theology, he holds the esteemed roles of Righteous Deity of the Thunder Department, Marshal of the Fire Department, and one of the Thirty-Six Celestial Generals. Additionally, he is counted among the Four Sacred Guardians, a pantheon of revered protectors. The other three guardians are equally illustrious: Guan Gong (deified as the God of War), Zhao Gongming (venerated as the God of Wealth), and Wen Qiong (honored as the God of Epidemics).
