| Samantabhadra Bodhisattva (Sanskrit: Samantabhadra), transliterated as Sanmantuobatuoluo and formerly rendered as Bianji Bodhisattva, stands as one of the Four Great Bodhisattvas in Mahāyāna Buddhism. Embodying the virtues of universal principle (理德) and enlightened conduct (行德), he forms a sacred dyad with Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva—the embodiment of transcendent wisdom (智德) and righteous truth (正德)—flanking Śākyamuni Buddha as his left and right attendant deities. Vairocana Buddha (the Primordial Cosmic Buddha), Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva, and Samantabhadra Bodhisattva are collectively venerated as the “Three Sacred Ones of the Avataṃsaka Sūtra” (华严三圣), representing the ultimate integration of cosmic truth, wisdom, and compassionate action in Huayan Buddhist philosophy. |
